FISH FOOD BANK

MUSCLES NEEDED! Regular Tues./Wed. 10-noon volunteers who can lift 50 lbs. to help unload trucks and stock shelves. If you know anyone who is looking for some volunteer hours, please contact Debbie Price at 253-686-7578.

VOLUNTEERS NEEDED: To staff outreach events for FISH. This would require staffing a booth for the food bank at events such as The Taste of Tacoma, Art on the Ave., Proctor Farmer’s Market, etc. Your job would be to promote and answer questions about the food bank, interacting with the public. If you are interested, please talk to Cindy Stangl or call Debbie Price at the number below.

ITEMS NEEDED: Canned fruit/vegetables, peanut butter, tuna, chili, canned beans or low-fat refried beans, toilet paper, PLASTIC BAGS, rubber bands.

MONETARY DONATIONS: Please consider monetary donations to food bank. Checks can be made to St. Luke’s with “food bank” on the memo line. This allows you to receive the tax benefit of your donation. Remember that Monetary donations distribute SEVEN times the amount donated ($25 buys $175 worth of food). Thank you also to those who contribute to the coffee hour food bank collection. It’s always amazing to see how much comes in each week! Usually there is at least $25, which translates to $175 of purchasing power!

WAREHOUSE NEEDED: FISH is looking for additional warehouse space, preferably at low or no cost with refrigeration. A central location (i.e. Port of Tacoma, Lakewood or South Tacoma) is preferred. If you know of such a space, please contact Debbie Price at the number below.

FOOD BANK FUNDRAISER: Oct. 20 at 11am, Allenmore Elks. A luncheon open to anyone who would like to support food bank. Donations will be asked for at the luncheon. It is a great way to enjoy a good lunch and support a local cause. For more information, please contact Cindy Stangl.

There is always room for volunteering! If there are scout troops, church/school groups or other organizations that you belong to, food bank is always grateful for FOOD DRIVES (even small simple ones) and has opportunities for service (contact Debbie Price at 253-686-7578)
