Stewardship – 2016 – God the Giver

A message from the vestry:

We have an exciting fall ahead of us!  As we look forward to welcoming our new Rector on November 1st, we will also reflect on how blessed we are to have St. Luke’s as our church home.

On Sunday, October 4th, we will kick off our annual giving campaign with the theme “God the Giver”.  Over the next six weeks, we will explore together how acknowledging God’s generosity to us can unleash greater generosity in ourselves.  Archbishop Desmond Tutu in his book, “In God’s Hands” says, “This is a God who intervenes on our behalf, not because we deserve it, but because God’s love is freely given.  It is grace.  It is not earned; it cannot be earned.  It does not need to be earned.”  God is the Giver, the ultimate lover of all God has created.  Your generosity, in response to all God has given you, helps us carry out our mission to Worship God, Serve Christ, and Love One Another.

Each Sunday, from October 4th through November 8th, you will find reflections written by Episcopal stewardship leaders across the country, covering stewardship and faithful giving in connection with the Gospel reading of the day in your worship bulletin.
During the week of October 4th you will receive your pledge card in the mail.
On November 8th we will celebrate Commitment Sunday when our pledges will be offered as an act of worship and in response to all that God provides us.

We, the Vestry, pray that each of us will be open to letting the Holy Spirit lead and guide us as we consider our commitment to the mission of this congregation.  Thank you for joining us as we consider God’s gifts to us.  May our exploration open us to a deeper gratitude and service to Christ.
