The High School Sunday School class is supporting a toy and wrapping paper drive for the Tacoma Toy Rescue Mission began on October 18.
The Toy Rescue Mission has served the South Sound for over 20 years. Their mission is to refurbish and recycle gently used toys for disadvantaged children and seniors in care-facilities. Qualified families can chose items at the mission for their children on birthdays, Christmas, and Easter. They also support a back to school supply program, a nursing home program, and toys for victims of domestic violence, fires or other emergencies.
Last year the mission supported over 11,000 individuals; 6000 of which was during the Christmas holidays. This is where we want to give them a hand!
During the holiday toy drive the need is for new toys due to the time commitment to clean and sort used toys. A bin and box will be placed in the parish hall to collect toys and wrapping paper beginning on Oct 18 and ending on Nov 8.
