February is the beginning of many activities that are in the works!
February 6th from 5pm-7pm, is a Movie Kid’s Night. We will be showing Disney’s Robin Hood, in the Parish Hall. Popcorn will be served. All ages are welcomed. Children age 3 and under need an adult to stay with them during the event. Also happening this month is our second Serving Others Sunday. (S.O.S. for short) of the school year. This S.O.S. will take place right after the children’s homily on February 14th. S.O.S. is a multi-age Sunday School activity that serves our community. For this S.O.S., we will be helping St. Luke’s own Backpack Program.
This program goes throughout the school year and is headed up by Holly Hunt. St. Luke’s provides 2 bags of 3 easy to prepare meals, drinks and snacks, to children that don’t have a regular source of food when they are away from school. The school that St. Luke’s gives to is Sheridan Elementary, here in Tacoma. Every week the bags are shopped for, packed and delivered by St. Luke’s volunteers.
The final activity for the month of February is the start of our Adopt-A-Family program, on February 28th. Adopt-A-Family is an Easter tradition at St. Luke’s. The Parish adopts families in our church or preschool community who have fallen on hard times. You can donate food items, cash, or an Easter basket. Look for the sign-up sheets on the big bulletin board in the Parish Hall. The last day to bring in donations for Adopt-A-Family is Palm Sunday.
March is the time for Lego Night reservations and the Easter Egg Hunt. Reserve your spot for the Lego Kid’s Night, which will be held on April 16th 4pm-6pm. Keep an eye and ear out for announcements and flyers on reserving your child’s spot for this night. Last year was our first time having Play-Well Teknologies at St. Luke’s. It was a fun night of engineering and competition! This event is for Kindergarteners and up. Kindergartners and 1st graders need a parent to stay and be hands on helping with the building. If interested or have questions, please talk to Lisa or Josh Vance.
The big event for the month of March is the Easter Egg Hunt. We are moving the time of the hunt but not the place! The Easter Egg Hunt will take place on Easter, March 27th, after the 8:30 am service. We use about 1400-1600 Easter Eggs during the festivities. We could use help stuffing the eggs. On March 13th . I will have bags of 100 eggs ready to go home to be stuffed. The bags will have eggs, directions and the items that need to be stuffed in the eggs. The Eggs should be returned on Palm Sunday or other arrangements made. If you are interested in helping with stuffing Easter Eggs please contact Lisa Vance.
