Our junior high Sunday school class has been working on some service projects this year. They have been filling bags for our Backpack program as well as putting together Hospitality Bags for the homeless. The idea behind Hospitality bags is that they contain some food, snacks and toiletries as well as a resource sheet for support services in Pierce County.
On April 24th, the junior high class will be selling these bags to parishioners during coffee hour for $5 each. The idea is that parishioners keep the bags in their cars to hand our as they encounter the need in their daily life. All proceeds go back into supporting the cost of putting more of these bags together. Thanks to Ross Johnson, Jane Light and Sara Freeman for helping to support these projects!
If you are interested in assisting our youth in these endeavors, please speak with me. I’d love to have some help supervising backpack bag filling during church on April 3rd as well as hospitality bag filling and selling on April 24th!
On April 30th from 9am-noon, St. Luke’s will be hosting a Safeguarding God’s Children workshop. The diocese requires that this training be taken every 5 years by anyone working with children. Anyone needing to take this class is asked to contact Julie Williams in the church office to get their name on the RSVP list. There is no cost for this class.
