St. Luke’s Sunday School

On Sunday, September 11th we enjoyed our first day back at Sunday school after our summer vacation. About 30 children attended Sunday school, meeting their teachers and reconnecting with friends. In addition, Beth Sherrill and Patti Crouch-Cook and their crew of high schoolers came in force to help set up for the church picnic. Reverend Marlene commissioned our Sunday school teachers and program with a very nice prayer in church.

I’m grateful to have several returning Sunday school teachers. Fran Fortner and Brady Christoph will be leading our preschool Sunday school class, Susan Pfundt-O’Neill and Amy Savage are teaming up together to lead the kindergarten and first grade group, Rhonda Kristoff will be teaching the 2nd and 3rd graders and Christina Sherman will lead the 4th and 5th grade class. Laura Crane, new to our Sunday school teaching ranks, has agreed to work with our Jr. High group on service-related activities twice a month. Bradie Dodge and Miranda White continue to work in our church nursery caring for our youngest church members.

So where does that leave us? I am still looking for someone to partner with Rhonda to teach the 2nd and 3rd graders twice a month. We also need someone to team up with Christina to lead the 4th and 5th graders twice a month (this group loves their crafts!). Since Laura is working with the Jr. High on service projects, we also need someone who is comfortable and willing to teach from the Sunday school curriculum two times a month. Sunday school volunteers need not have a child in our Sunday school program to teach.

Looking ahead…our Annual Pumpkin Party will take place on Sunday, October 30th after church. Lisa Vance will send out more info later this month.

If you haven’t filled out a registration form for your child yet this year, please do so the next time you are at church. Forms can be found on the Vestry information table in the Parish Hall.
