Were you at Lessons and Carols last year? Then you’ll remember how special it was: can-dlelight, choirs, soloists, instruments, readers and congregation all joining to tell the Christ-mas story in a profound, beautiful way.
And now it’s back, on Thursday December 8 at 7 p.m. with a fancy holiday party to follow!
A tradition that comes from England in the ear-ly 1900s, the Lessons and Carols service is now popular in Anglican churches around the world and broadcast worldwide from King’s College, Cambridge on the BBC.
Here at St. Luke’s the nine Bible readings and nine carols will be read and sung and played from all four corners of our beautiful church, with chancel, choristers and women’s choirs balancing carols sung by the congregation. It will be both familiar and new; hushed and joy-ful; comforting and magical: a journey of words and music from darkness to light.
